Bringing a classic product to a modern market means walking a line between heritage and freshness. Longboat Leather, founded by young entrepreneurs with a love of American-made craftsmanship, puts a personal twist on handmade leather belts through deep customization and a laid-back coastal style. We reframed the brand's existing heron logo, expanded the color palette, and introduced new typography and layout treatments. To support a shift toward lifestyle-driven storytelling, we art directed a new photo shoot to capture the brand’s easygoing spirit with natural light and clean, elegant detail. The final phase was a redesigned Shopify website built for both younger buyers and wholesale clients. Every touchpoint was considered to feel refined, classic, and creatively aspirational.

Brand Identity

The refined identity kept the original heron mark but introduced a more versatile layout system and simplified forms for better digital legibility. A warm coastal palette of soft blues and sun-faded yellow adds personality without overpowering the product. We paired these updates with a clean, heritage-inspired type system and subtle pattern work that echoes the natural symmetry of a bird formation, bringing a sense of craft, balance, and ease to the brand’s visual language.

Art Direction and Photography 

To reflect the brand’s refined, coastal personality, we selected two exclusive shoot locations in Greenwich, Connecticut: a private yacht club and a private country club. The setting offered the perfect blend of classic, clubby, and coastal that defines Longboat Leather. Working with a full crew, including three models, a photographer, and lighting support, we mapped out the creative direction in advance. Using model references, location photos, and wardrobe choices, we built visual mockups in an AI image generator to help the client review and approve the overall look and feel ahead of time. That preparation allowed us to move quickly and confidently once we were on site.

The redesigned Shopify site brings Longboat Leather’s personality to life through clean layouts, lifestyle imagery, and thoughtful product storytelling. From handcrafted belts to coasters and keychains, each item is presented with clarity and care. Built with both casual shoppers and wholesale buyers in mind, the site includes easy logo upload features and customization options, making it simple to create something truly personal.
